Learn about the story of refugee children who came to Britain in 1937, and think what ‘home’ means to you.
You will have the opportunity to listen to a real story about a Basque family
Tasks
Watch the video and take part in the mystery document activity. Then find out about the history and think about what home means to you.
Mystery Document:
What can you see? What type of document is it? When was it made?
Further thinking
Think: What would make children feel at home in these camps?
What can you learn about children’s lives at the camp?
How homely does it seem?
Creative Activity
Think about – What does home mean to you?
You have two options to help you do this.
Option 1: find any type of box and put three objects inside that show what home means to you. Or you can draw three objects and put the drawings inside.
Option 2: draw a square on a piece of paper and then write/draw at least three things that show what home means to you.
They don’t need to be objects, home could be represented through people, smells or even feelings!
We’d love to see what you create, so share photos with us @UkNatArcEdu #TNAlearning
Watch our Craft Club video featuring Rana Ibrahim. This Is released on Wednesday 16th June 2021.
