We are delivering projects directly and in partnership so that more people of all ages and backgrounds benefit from and are inspired by archives, on site and online. A Year in Archives highlights some of the inspiring, collaborative and innovative work that has taken place across the archive sector throughout 2017


The Finding Archives project has overseen the integration of content from the National Register of Archives (NRA), Directory of Archives (ARCHON), Access to Archives (A2A) and the Manorial Documents Register (MDR) into Discovery.

Transforming Archives

Transforming Archives is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund Skills for the Future programme: it has provided 37 paid traineeships for people new to the sector between 2014 and 2017 in England.

Volunteering research project

Research is being undertaken into the roles of volunteers in the archives sector, to help inform the development of the Volunteering in Archives Action Plan.
