- This ordinary looking document tells a very moving and powerful story.
It is just one page of the Annual Register of slaves exported from Africa
to the Americas. This particular page comes from the register for 1758.
- If you look carefully at the document you can see that it lists the
ships carrying slaves, when they arrived in Africa, where they are coming
from, who owned them etc.
- The document shows the total number of slaves in this short period.
An analysis of the register by historians has shown that the total numbers
