What can our documents reveal about how families enjoyed summer holidays during the Second World War?

Welcome to the final episode of Time Travel TV for the summer!  This time we’ll be exploring documents which reveal surprising things about how people spent their summer holidays during a time of national crisis.

Tasks

Part One

Use your fantastically tuned observation skills to look at Mystery Document 1.  You’ve only got 10 seconds to start with!  Make sure you stick to time!

Then you’ll have the chance to take a longer look.

Part Two

Well done on using your observation skills for the document 1.

Document 2 will help you in your thinking – take as much time as you need to look at it, then try to answer these questions:

  • What type of documents do you think One and Two are?
  • What date do you think they are from?
  • Do you think these documents are related? If so, how/why?

Part Three

Now it’s time for the document reveal!

Afterwards, you can take part in more activities such as exploring additional documents, craft activities and learning more about the Second World War.

See you again in the autumn for more TTTV!
