Artist Picture

1891 - 1992

Ziegler was a German painter who, despite having no formal training, experimented with a range of different techniques and styles. Having travelled around Europe in the 1920s, spending time in France, Switzerland and Italy, Ziegler decided to emigrate to England. Between 1925 and 1946, Ziegler's work was shown widely in Berlin, Cologne and London.

In 1961 he returned to Germany, and finally returned to his hometown of Pforzheim in 1990 where he died, a year after being awarded an honorary citizenship on his hundredth birthday.
