Rumbold was an illustrator who contributed artwork in the early 1930s to the quintessential Savoy Cocktail Book.

In the 1950s, living in Broadstairs, he continued to sketch drawings of local scenes that were sold in gift shops around the town, despite having lost an arm in a train accident.
