St Paul’s Cathedral had been badly damaged in the fire. It was decided that the whole building must be pulled down and built again from scratch. A wonderful new design would be needed. A design that would bring hope in desperate times. Can you guess who King Charles appointed to design the new St Paul’s Cathedral? It was his old friend Christopher. Christopher Wren!
Following the Great Fire, King Charles made an important proclamation (announcement). He said that from now on, all new buildings would have to be built out of stone (and not wood).
