Was the wartime alliance between Britain, the USA and USSR as strong as the media said it was?

Was the story of World War 2 a story of warm friendship and close co-operation between Britain, the USA and USSR? People in those countries certainly saw plenty of evidence of co-operation in their newsreels.

But was it all smiles and handshakes behind the scenes? British and American pilots who flew supplies and aircraft to the USSR often complained that the Soviets did not seem to trust them. The brave sailors who brought supplies to the USSR were treated with respect, but they were not encouraged to wander around Soviet ports.
