With the Second World War fought on an international scale, Allied nations worked together to defeat ‘the Axis evil'. In this section, the emphasis on different nations is clear, changing as links between countries were forged and broken (often through defeat). Links with European nations were initially emphasised, then the USA and Soviet Russia, whilst links with the Commonwealth are clearly visible. The focus for fighting also changed, with the emphasis moving to Japan once the European war was over.
