This is title page and frontispiece from a printed pamphlet entitled:

‘The discovery of witches: in answer to several Queries lately delivered to the Judges of the Assize for the county of Norfolk. And now published by Matthew Hopkins Witch-finder for the benefit of the whole Kingdome.’ The frontispiece shows Matthew Hopkins interrogating several witches, with their familiars. These were animal guides that were believed to be supernatural entities that would assist witches in their practice of magic. This pamphlet would have been printed and sold amongst people interested in such sensationalist literature about witches.  Published for R. Royston: London, 1647
