1881: St Helens & District Tramways Co Ltd established the first horse-drawn tram service. 1897: St Helens Corporation purchased the transport undertaking and leased it for 21 years to the New St Helens & District Tramways Co Ltd. 1919 (Oct 1): St Helens Corporation exercised its right to take over the undertaking. |
