A report on the petition of Nathan Simpson and five other Jewish merchants to be made denizens of Great Britain, dated 16 May 1712.

  1. May it please y[ou]r Most Excell[en]t Ma[jes]ty
  2. In humble Obedience to y[ou]r Ma[jes]tys Com[m]ands signifyd
  3. to me by Mr Secretary St John I have Considered
  4. of the annexd Pet[itio]n of Nathan Simpson & Samuel
  5. Levy of London Merchants in behalf of y[e]mselves and
  6. Moses Levy Moses Michalls Moses Hart & Mordira
  7. Nathan, now living in New York in America, Mer-
  8. chants, Setting forth That the Pet[itione]rs are of the Jewish
  9. Religion Merchants residing within y[ou]r Majestys
  10. Dominions & finding themselves lye under many
  11. difficultys in their Trades for want of being Free
  12. Denizens to y[ou]r Ma[jes]ty praying therefore that they
  13. may Partake of your Ma[jes]tys Royal Favour to be
  14. made Denizens of Great Britain & esteemd as
  15. Such within y[ou]r Maj[es]tys Dominions in such manner
  16. as y[ou]r Royal Ma[jes]ty think fitt And I doe most
  17. humbly Certify y[ou]r Ma[jes]ty That the Pet[itione]rs Sam[ue]
  18. Levy & Nathan Simpson by their Affidavit annexd
  19. have Sworn the Contents of their s[aid] Pet[itio]n to be true
  20. And I have no Objection against y[ou]r Ma[jes]tys making
  21. the Pet[itione]rs Denizens If their being Jewes be not an
  22. Objection, but am humbly of Opinion y[ou]r Maj[es]ty
  23. may Lawfully make then Denizens if y[ou]r Ma[jes]ty
  24. Shall be graciously pleasd so to doe.
  25. All w[hi]ch is most humbly Submitted
  26. to y[ou]r Ma[jes]tys great Wisdom
