Case of Joanna Wickstede
At Hackney.. that she hath lyved incontentyetly with one Walter Wallworth, servaunte to the earle of Darby and was delivered of her child in the house of one William Newman of Clapton in the said Parishe being receaved there in absence of him and his wife. Newman then introduced the said Joanne Wickstede into the court... and she responded that she said Abell being servaunnte to the Earle of Darby in Barbycan had the use of her bodye at Hackney about Christmas last and did begette her with childe wherof she was delyverd and sayeth that she was seduced by him to this offence by his faithful promise that he wold marry her which promise he made before witnesses, viz before Anne Moune and Alice Moune of Hackney aforesaid.
