John and Jane Daniell left manuscript autobiographies which told their
side of the story, and described their attempts to recover their
home in Hackney, the Rectory. These are John's 'Danyells Dysasters',
and Jane's 'The Misfortunes of Jane Danyell'. They provide a marvellous
insight into their characters, as well as casting light on their
way of life in Hackney, and it is from these, as well as other
documents from the time, that our dramatic re-enactment, with
Jane as narrator, has been based.
