Response

Paid search requests are processed by staff on two separate teams.

The MoD Access Service Team has three members of staff who process paid search requests specifically for records transferred as part of the Ministry of Defence service records project. This is the only team which is responsible for conducting paid search requests on these series of records.

Our Paid Search Team, which is a part of the Collections Expertise and Engagement (CEE) department of The National Archives, processes paid search requests into all open records, and closed records specifically within the WO 409 series and the 1939 Register. This team currently consists of one Paid Search Officer and one Paid Search Manager who both process requests. Four other members of staff in CEE also support this work by logging and processing paid search requests on an ad hoc basis.
