Copy of Feoffment and of Letter of Attorney: 50/11/12/24(1) 10 February, 1486 1 Henry VII Feoffment Oto Gylberd, William Fowell, John Holbeine, Edward Focray and William Gambon To Thomas Barnehous of Kyngeston Messuage in Bayston, in the manor of Hempston Cantlow, which they lately had of the gift of the said Thomas. To hold to the said Thomas for his life, and after his death, to Thomas Barnehous his eldest son, and to the legitimate heirs of his body; and failing them, to the right heirs of the aforesaid Thomas; of the chief lords of the fee. Witnesses: John Barter of Bayston, William Harry of Kyngston, John Esynghole. Above feoffment is a copy of 50/11/12/23. 50/11/12/24 (2) 24 September, 1486 2 Henry VII Letter of Attorney Oto Gylberd, William Fowell, John Holbeine, Edward Focray and William Gambon To Thomas Dorsett and William Whyddon' To enter into, and take seisin of, a messuage in Bayston in the manor of Hempston Cantlaw, which they lately had of the gift of Thomas Barnehous son and heir of John Barnehous lately of Kyngeston' now dec'd; And to deliver seisin thereof to Thomas Barnehous third son In the first deed Thomas is called his eldest son. of the aforesaid Thomas. Witnesses: Gilbert Yerd, James Cappys, John Werthe. Underneath (in English) is a Memorandum that the above is a true copy of the 2 original deeds, which were to be delivered by John Rowe, seriaunt at the lawe, to Wylliam South. Witnesses: George Rolle, John Eston', Walter Colshyll', Baldwin Malet, Edmund Larde', Humfrey Colles, Nicholas Wyhigsly. And another memorandum, (also in English), by John Ford, that the said deeds were delivered by William South to John Ford, who delivered them to William Barnehous, esq., on agreement being had between them concerning the said lands, in the presence of John Rowe, seriant at the lawe. |
