Description:

There are images of Yorkshire, East Anglia, Lincolnshire, Scotland, Northumberland, Durham and the Isle of Man. A lantern slide lecture on York includes views of the original Queen Street Railway Museum founded by the North Eastern Railway. There are also images of Horwich Works, Germany and Switzerland.

 

The lantern slides are accompanied by scripts used in lectures. They are available for consultation by special request.

Administrative / biographical background:

The collection received its unusual name through a combination of the donor, W E Hayward's, initials and the name of his house, 'Lyn'. A small number of the Horwich slides may also be held as negatives in the official works collections.
