This small collection of 6½ x 4½ ins glass and film negatives features North Eastern locomotives with goods and passenger trains, together with Lancashire & Yorkshire and Great Northern engines.

Thomas Preston began working for the North Eastern Railway in about 1905, resigning when he was Personal Clerk to the General Superintendent in 1911. He subsequently published articles in the 'Railway Magazine' on the North Eastern and on signalling.
