Contemporaries record that Grasemann possessed a formidable personality but also had a strong sense of humour, and the NRM archive contains a book of humorous pen portraits of his acquaintances. He had a passion for yachting and his collection comprises an album of yachting scenes.

Administrative / biographical background:

Cuthbert Grasemann, who was born in 1890, was for twenty years, Public Relations Officer of the Southern Railway. He joined the Southern's Publicity and Advertising Department in 1930 and in 1949 he briefly took up the post of Public Relations & Publicity Officer to the new British Railways (Southern Region) before retiring in 1950.
