England's photographs cover the Big Four, British Railways, industrial railways, a small number of pre-grouping railways, such as the LBSC, Irish and overseas railways, particularly Spain and Scandinavia. Preserved railways are also featured. England also acquired the work of his friend, F C Steward (see NRM entry 'The Steward Collection').
