Administrative / biographical background:

Langley Priory was a nunnery between Castle Donington and Breedon, in Breedon parish. [VCH Leics. ii. 3.] Ranulph earl of Chester granted to Stephen (I) de Segrave all his land in the field of Langley with land in Kegworth, and it was evidently connected with Kegworth, as William de Hausted and Robert Patrick, the coheirs to the FitzNigel fee in Kegworth (above, BCM/D/5/29) quitclaimed lands there to Stephen. [BL Harl. MS 4748, f. 9.] The holding there is not mentioned after the time of Nicholas de Segrave (d. 1295).
