Administrative / biographical background:

In November 1919 King George V made the Order in Council which founded the diocese of Bradford, created out the diocese of Ripon. Bradford's parish church of St Peter became the new cathedral; the Archdeacon of Plymouth, the Venerable Arthur Perowne, was appointed the first Bishop.
