Title: Peter Steele Papers: The 1953 Everest Expedition leadership controversy
Description:

Series Title: Mount Everest

Material collected by Peter Steele. This comprises transcripts with members of the expeditions and other people associated with the organisation of it, plus copies of papers generated by the Himalayan committee etc, and extracts from published works. These have been sorted chronologically and by author, and Steele has done much marking-up of these sources with highlighter pen. Steele's analysis of the material collected here can be found in his biography of Eric Shipton (q.v.). File 3 contains letters written to Steele by various people to whom he had sent a rough draft of his chapter.
