Remains of a diary kept by W.H. Crace on the Nanga Parbat reconaissance of 1950. Crace, with his climbing partner J.W. Thornley disappeared during a storm; their bodies were never found. The diary was found during the Czech 1971 expedition, and photographs of the relics were used in the book "Nanga Parbat. 8125m" by Arno Puskas and Ivan Urbanovic, pp70-71.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Diary found on Nanga Parbat by the Czech climber Miroslav Jaskovsky in 1971, and given to his fellow climber Arno Puskas. Mr Puskas donated the diary to the AC through the offices of Louis Baume in 1990 (see accompanying correspondence).
