Intended railway to commence by a junction with the York and North Midland railway, and the Great North of England railway, or one of them, near the city of York and to terminate at or near Scarborough in the North Riding of the county of York. Also of a branch railway to join the Whitby & Pickering railway at Pickering in the said North Riding of the county of York. Engineer: Robert Stephenson. Assistant engineer: John C. Birkinshaw. No book of reference.
