Conveyance by John Ferrers of Tamworth Castle, esq., and Nicholas Parker of Tamworth, gent., to George Antrobus of Tamworth, clerk and Samuel Langley of Bolehall, clerk, for the sum of £416 13s 4d of a messuage on the north side of Market Street, Tamworth, between the tenement of the said John Ferrers and Nicholas Parker in the occupation of Ralph Gibbins on the east side, the garden of .... on the north, the tenement in the occupation of Edward Drayton and John Varnam called the Beare on the west side and the said street on the south - now in the occupation of Philip Antrobus, weaver, which tenement was heretofore called the Swan with two necks, and also a close in the lordship of Bolehall and parish of Tamworth called Priest Riddings, now or late in the occupation of George Pretty and Henry Davies. Warranty against Anne wife of John Ferrers and Sir Humphry Ferrers, knight, son and heir of the said John. The grantees covenant to grind their corn, malt etc. at the water corn mills of the said John Ferrers, called the Castle Mills in the manor of Tamworth Castle and to do suit and service at the court of the said John and his heirs; with arrangements for payment of tithes etc. Appointment of Charles Baynton of Tamworth gent., and Jonathan Backhouse of same, gent., as attorneys to deliver possession.

 

Witnesses: Edward Parker, Henry Adcock.

 

Endorsed: '1731. Now the executors of Joseph Blood.' '1739. John Spooner owns the houses and Thomas Heath the land'.
