Description:

ER1 (formerly known as 'Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Mss'), comprises a series of volumes of a very miscellaneous nature which were added to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's collections from the early 1860s (when records were first taken on deposit) down to 1894.
Date: 1287 - 1872
Arrangement:

Inspired by the custom then (and still) prevalent at the British Museum, volumes were added to this series as they were acquired, but deeds (even if part of the same accession) to another series (now ER2 and ER3)

 

The calendar here reproduced was originally prepared between 1886 and 1894 by George Warner (later Sir George Warner) then an assistant keeper in the Department of Manuscripts, British Museum. Arrangements were made for the work to be done in London.

 

His hand-written calendar has been reproduced more or less as it stands, with one or two minor alterations and additions.
