Administrative / biographical background:

The Durham County Association of the NUT was formed in 1904. The "Other Areas" Section as it was first known comprised representatives from Associations outwith the administrative county, in other words, the County Boroughs and Municipal Boroughs within the geographical County of Durham. The Section was wound up following local government reorganisation in 1974.
