Administrative / biographical background:

This Court sat at the Moot Hall, Newcastle until new Magistrates Courts were opened at West Avenue, Gosforth in 1970. From June 1923 to 1970 an occasional Court was held at Gosforth. Cases dealt with at these sittings are recorded in the registers for Court no. 1. Pre-1915 Court registers have not survived.
