Administrative / biographical background:

The company was established by Samuel Tyzack some time between 1856 and 1886 when he took over the operation of the Monkwearmouth Iron Works in Fulwell Road, Sunderland, trading as Samuel Tyzack & Co., ironfounders. The firm was incorporated as a limited company on 5 December 1889.

 

In about 1937 the company switched to the manufacture of concrete products, and described themselves as brick and tile manufacturers from that time onwards.
