Administrative / biographical background: |
The Forest Hall and Longbenton Estate descended from Sir Richard Stote in 1684 to his son Bertram. On his death in 1707 it was divided equally between his three daughters, Frances, Dorothy and Margaret, together with mining and mineral rights. The Wilson portion of the estate was purchased from Dorothy's descendants in 1731. Only one sixth of the mineral rights from the original estate was by now vested in the Wilson family. The architects and surveyors business Wilson and Wilson, based at 23 Leazes Park Road, Newcastle, was run from the 1940's by Miss Doreen Wilson and H.H. Atkinson, the former being a direct descendent of the Wilson family of Forest Hall. |
