Administrative / biographical background:

Sandyford Road United Methodist church opened in 1907 at the junction of Sandyford Road and Grantham Road, Jesmond. It was the principal chapel in the Sandyford Circuit (Central and Sandyford Circuit after 1934).

 

The congregation of Salem U M chapel, Camden Street amalgamated with Sandyford Road in 1942 following the closure of Salem chapel. To reflect the amalgamation the church became known as Sandyford Salem U M church for a number of years. After the Central and Sandyford Circuit merged with the Brunswick Circuit in 1965 the Church became known as Sandyford Road Methodist Church. It closed in 1968.
