Administrative / biographical background:

Formed in 1889. A branch of the United Kingdom Commercial Travellers Benefit Society was also formed in 1905 for sick and unemployed members. A Ladies Committee was established in 1919 from the wives of members to raise money for commercial travellers and other charities. UKCTA became part of the Trade Union ASTMS in 1976 and the branch was wound up.
