Title: Major Mortimer Calmady Collier
Description:

Black and white mounted photograph of Major (later Brevet Colonel, OBE, TD) Mortimer Calmady Collier, with accompanying biographical information. Colonel Collier joined the 3rd Volunteer Battalion Devonshire Regiment in 1897. From 1899 to 1901 he was on the Devon and Cornwall Brigade Staff, before being transferred to the 2nd (Prince of Wales') Volunteer Battalion in 1903. In 1904 he founded the 43rd Divisional Column RASC. During the First World War he served as Senior Supply Officer in 29th Division at Gallipoli, and was mentioned in Despatches. In 1916 he was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel but voluntarily reverted to Major on rejoining the Unit following the War. He retired in 1929.
