Catalogue description CHAPTER MINUTES, 1722-1827 and CHAPTER PAPERS, 1545-1919

Cap/I/4/4-10 is composed of the former Cap/I/10 and Cap/I/4/1 and 2.

Both these groups were found to contain the working papers of the Chapter, and the distinction between them was obviously artificial. Documents of the same type, and on the same subjects, were found in both groups, and most of the earlier papers had been filed in the same way, on a single spike.

For convenience, the documents have been divided into subject groups as follows:

Cap/I/4/4 - Establishment [Cathedral staff, prebendaries, etc.]

Cap/I/4/5 - Fabric.

Cap/I/4/6 - Personal property.

Cap/I/4/7 - Real property.

Cap/I/4/8 - Accounts and papers concerning finance.

Cap/I/4/9 - Correspondence.

Cap/I/4/10 - Miscellaneous.
