By JOANE GYLES of Penhurst, widow, to BENJAMIN SCARLETT of Eastbourne, gent., - for securing £1300, the balance of the purchase money of £320 retained until the making of the Release thereafter mentioned - of the following:- The manor of Haselden and other premises purchased by the said Joane Gyles from the said Benjamin Scarlett and Thomas Scarlett his son and described in deed of 10 April, 1655

 

The said John by his will dated 4 July, 1654, devised that the said Thomas Scarlett and John Scarlett, Timothy, William, Nicholas and Mary Scarlett, children of the said Benjamin Scarlett should have their portions raised out of the rents and profits of his moiety of the said manor and premises, and he devised to the said John Scarlett his moiety of William Walker's farm and his moiety of the farm used by Guntur; and he devised to the said William Scarlett his moiety of Brays land and the lands at the forge. It was agreed that the said John, Timothy, William, Nicholas and Mary Scarlett, at their respective ages of 21 years, should release and assure the said manor and premises to the said Joane Gyles
