Title: The estate in the hands of Lord Curzon
Description:

Lord Curzon had advertised the major part of the estate for sale by auction on 5 Nov 1917, before he had completed his purchase; only the land in the immediate vicinity of the castle was retained

On 11 Mar 1919 a yearly tenancy of The Cooper's Field and other land (32a 1r 10p) at £40 a year was granted to Bertram Levett of Court Lodge farmer (16/1)

On 24 Mar 1922 The Manor House (for the title of which see 13 above) was leased to William Tower Townshend of Vale Lodge, Tunbridge Wells esq and his wife Geraldine Emily for the life of the survivor at £150 a year, which payment was waived by a rider attached to the lease. A copy of the lease was sent to Lord Curzon as a result of the tenants' doubts about the security of tenure; the letter makes incidental reference to Lady Curzon's proposed visit to The Argentine (16/2, 3)
