Thomas Mercer of Lewes, surgeon, Richard Webb of Wivelsfield, gent and Mary Mercer of Isfield, widow (executors of Joseph Mercer of Isfield, gent, deceased), with William Catt of Uckfield, yeoman All the horses, oxen, steers, cows, young bullocks, sheep, hogs and other cattle husbandry tackling and utensils, hay, straw, amendment and tillage of land, wheat sowed and to be sowed, grass-seeds, hop-poles, manure and amendment on the hop grounds, all the chalk on the premises, and fuel now cut (except that which MM shall take for her own use) and the dairy utensils on the farm of Robert Smyth, bt, lately occupied by JM To be valued by Roger Martin of Framfield, wheelwright, and John Smith of Hempstead in Framfield, gent, with John Ridge of Stoneham in South Malling, gent, as umpire; to be void if RS refuse WC as his tenant W: Thomas Pannett, Mary Peckham Endorsed: provision for extension should RS refuse to let to WC; 19 Oct 1747; memorandum by TM that WC not hiring the farm these articles were of no further use than as a form for the articles afterwards entered into with Whapham and others; nd, [1747] |
