Title: HOUNDSTREET ESTATE register of leases
Description:

Volume enfaced 'Francis Popham Esq. Survey Book', being a register of 'leaseholders for years determinable on lives on fines ...' in the manors of: Chelworth; Compton Dando; Farmborough; Marksbury and Houndstreet; and Pensford, Publow and Woollard.

Giving, in tabular form, names and abodes of tenants, dates of leases and by whom granted, premises demised, term (always ninety-nine years), names, abodes and ages of 'lives', rents, heriots, and observations [in various hands up to 1836] on the deaths of tenants or 'lives'.

It would seem that the framework of this document and certain of the entries were made out between 1775 and 1779, in the time of Francis Popham, and that by inter-polation and erasure the information was kept up-to-date until circa 1836.
