An original bundle of copies of documents mainly concerned with the calculation of income:

 

Two paper sections, being schedules of income of Francis Popham of Littlecote, esq., 1799-1800, 1802, giving the annual value but no description of Wiltshire properties, average produce of underwoods, rent charges and quit rents (from which the outgoings for land tax, property repairs, etc. are subtracted), and the computed net income from the Somerset estates.

 

Paper headed 'Interest on mortgage debts due the 31st of July 1797', giving names of mortgages, principal sums and interest.

 

Paper headed 'A Schedule of existing leases for 99 yrs. determinable on lives, belonging to Fras. Popham Esq.', watermarked 1794, giving dates of leases, by whom granted, and names of tenants, for properties in Northstanden, Rudge, Chilton [Foliat], Ramsbury, Winterbourne Monkton, and Charnham Street. Paper endorsed 'Particulars of Lifeholds', watermarked 1797, arranged under farms and holdings, and giving brief description and acreage of various Wilts, properties. Paper endorsed '11 Jany. 1799. Account of Leases at rack rent ["sent to Littlecott this day" inserted in different hand]', giving names of tenants, dates of leases, term, dates of commencement, and amounts of rent, but no description of properties. Paper endorsed '1807. Schedule of Leases at rack rent' (with a copy endorsed '1807. Schedule of Leases of Farms belonging to General Popham'), giving dates of leases, names of lessors, amounts of rent, term, dates of commencement and expiration, together with observations (mainly concerning engrossment of leases).

 

Paper headed 'A Rental of the Estates lately belonging to Mrs Dorothy Popham, widow of Francis Popham esquire deceased, situate in the several parishes of Ramsbury, Chilton-Foliat, Hungerford, Froxfield, and Winterbourne-Monkton in the County of Wilts. and at West Challow in Berks', endorsed 1797, giving names of tenants, names or situation of farms, etc., and annual rents, together with a statement of the annual income from rents and woods in the Wilts., Berks., and Somerset estates, and from the coal-works in Somerset, to which is added the supposed annual value of the mansion houses, etc., at Littlecote and Houndstreet, and from which is subtracted the annual outgoings (including the taxes for a house in Marylebone). Paper headed 'A Rental of the Estates lately belonging to Francis Popham Esq. deceased, situate ... [as in the foregoing rental]', endorsed 1804, (with a copy, and various papers bearing calculations), giving names of tenants and of farms, and annual rents including quit rents, against which are set the outgoings. Paper headed '3 Nov. 1806. Petty Rents due to Fras. Popham Esq. acting Extor. of his late father Francis Popham Esq. deced., at Michas. 1804', giving reference to audit book, names of tenants, annual rent, number of years due, allowances, and balance or net received. Two papers, being accounts of petty rents due to General Popham, 1806 and 1807, [giving details similar to the foregoing].

 

Two papers, being deputations to gamekeepers, made by Dorothy Popham, 1795, and Francis Popham, esq., 1797, for the manors of Littlecote with Rudge, Chilton Foliat with Soley, Northstanden with Oakhill, Charnham Street, and Winterbourne Monkton (all co. Wilts.).
