The 21st-30th Annual Reports of the Medical Superintendent of the Lunatic Asylum, for the Counties of Salop and Montgomery and for the Borough of Wenlock

 

With notes in the front:

 

The property of the Magistrates of the County of Salop

 

'To the County of Salop for use in the Judges lodgings from Mr. Layton Lowndes, Chairman of the Sessions'

 

The Medical Superintendants were: H. Rooke Ley and Arthur Strange, M. D.

 

From the 24th Annual Report onwards the reports become far more formalised and standard.

 

Each report has a contents page listing:

 

1). Report of the Committee of Visitors

 

2). Report of the Commissioners in Lunacy

 

3). Statistical tables illustrating the medical history of the year

 

4). Day accommodation for patients in the male and female divisions

 

5). Sleeping accommodation for patients in the male and female divisions

 

6). Abstract of capital account

 

7). Diet tables (ordinary, sick, extra, and attendants)

 

8). Abstract of returns made by clerks of Unions, and Overseers of Parishes of th number of Lunatics, Idiots and person of Unsound Mind chargeable

 

9). The medical statistics of the asylum from its opening in 1845

 

10). The Superintendents Report

 

11). Financial Statement of the year

 

From the 26th Annual Report onwards are other additions such as:

 

- Weekly cost of maintenance and the Auditors report from the 29th report onwards;

 

- Chaplains report from the 39th report onwards but also substantial omissions, so the reports reduce in size
