Administrative / biographical background:

Arthur Guy gained his diploma and National Diploma in Agriculture in 1935 and purchased the lease upon Abbey Farm in 1938. He later purchased the farm outright and extended it by incorporating more of the nearby aerodrome. He also purchased the adjoining Old Hall Farm and farmed the two farms until his death in 1993.
