Catalogue description Draft Agreement for Service

Whereby, firstly, J. H. Butler (of 125, Heathfield Rd., Handsworth, Birmingham, works manager) will be employed by Randle Radiators Ltd. (of Mile Lane, Coventry, represented by Frederic Randle, managing director) as works manager at their Mile Lane and Quinton Rd. plants from 29th. Oct., 1934; secondly, the salary will be £600 p.a. payable at the end of each month (the sum received at the end of Nov., 1934 including the period from the start of this agreement to 1st. Nov.) increased annually by £50 until £750 p.a. shall have been reached, the first such augmentation occurring on 1st. Nov., 1935; thirdly, employment will be determinable by one month's notice from either side or by payment of a month's salary in lieu of notice; fourthly, if the manager is disobedient, he may be sacked without notice; fifthly, devoting his time exclusively to the business, Butler will be subservient to the managing director; sixthly, the manager will keep trade secrets; seventhly, Butler shall have general control of workmen but must get F. Randle's consent for dismissing anyone (except for flagrant misconduct), with a similar provision about wages, moreover the manager will not order goods in the company's name; and eighthly, Butler will receive a full salary during the first month of any illness but thereafter the agreement may be ended without compensation.
