Formed in January 1886 under the terms of the Will of the late Joseph Mayer. Until 1930 the Trust was responsible for managing the Mayer Library, Park, and Hall, in Bebington village, (established 1869 - 71) but in that year control of all three passed to the Bebington and Bromborough U.D.C. (See LOWNDES, William, "The Story of Bebington", 1953, BC 111 175). The present records were held by Mr. A. Owens, of the Bebington Town Clerk's Department, until their transfer to Birkenhead Library in March 1974.
