Mary Anne was the eldest child of Thomas (1753-1825) and Mary (c. 1757-1803) Nicholson (see 920 NIC/11 and 12). On completing her education she took over the family housekeeping and the care of her younger brothers and sisters. She wrote poetry and contributed to the Liverpool Mercury. She died unmarried at Gateacre on 15 Dec. 1863, aged 71 years. See pp. 104-105. |
