Handbill for "Captain Peacock's Refuge Buoy Beacon". Description, copies of testimonials and views showing a two-thirds view of the Buoy - Beacon from the bow part, an enlarged view of the Bell, a three-quarter view of the Buoy - Beacon from the after part and a general view of the Buoy - Beacon in the water. M.S. note. "Some of these refuge Buoy - beacons was placed by order of the Admiralty ... at Spithead in 1854 ... as I have no patent for the invention they are now manufactured ... by anybody ... but I got nothing. Starcross 4.10.74. G.P.". Newspaper cutting from the Exeter and Plymouth Gazette, 17 Jun. 1866, relating to Captain Peacock's discovery of coal in Chile, pasted on to first page. Printed.
