The early volumes of Finance Committee minutes record little Committee business and contain mostly transcripts of accounts submitted to the Committee. By the beginning of the 1850's minutes were beginning to take precedence over the recital of accounts and at a meeting of the Finance Committee held on 27 Feb. 1852 (see 353 SEL 3/5, pp. 237 - 239) it was resolved that "the Vestry Clerk having submitted for consideration the propriety of discontinuing to transcribe the Accounts as passed to the Committee from the Journal into the Minute Book.... the transcript be discontinued....".

From 4 Jan. 1895 this Committee became the Finance & General Purposes Committee (see 353 SEL 3/17 p.493).
