Conveyances of the Earls and Dukes of Bridgewater, Earl of Ellesmere and Bridgewater Trustees. The Ellesmere Trustees ownership arose when the first Earl of Ellesmere purchased considerable estates from Robert Haldene Bradshaw (the first superintendent under the Will of Francis Duke of Bridgewater) which Bradshaw had purchased from the Clowes family and others. The sale to Lord Ellesmere was completed by Bradshaw's Devisees by indentures of the 28th and 29th September 1836. Ellesmere Estates were conveyed to the Bridgewater Trustees by an indenture dated 6th July 1900, from the third Earl of Ellesmere as tenant for life under the Settled Land Act.
