Description:

Miscellaneous lists and inventories of furniture, paintings, plate and other items at Lambeth Palace, including correspondence concerning the establishment of a trust to hold heirlooms. Also included are a copy of an inscription on a Portuguese reliquary containing the blood of Christ, 1905 (ff.1-3); the gift of an ikon by the Oecumenical Patriarch, 1929 (ff.34-41); a letter to Miss Faithfull from Lionel Henry Cust, Director of the National Portrait Gallery, 17 February 1906, about tapestries at Aix-en-Provence said to have been removed from St. Paul's cathedral (London) after the Civil War (f.76); the donation of a mace by Frederick Anthony White, 1912 (ff.78-85); an account by Francis Carolus Eeles, liturgical scholar, of vestments said to have belonged to Cardinal Reginald Pole (Archbishop of Canterbury), 1924 (ff.98-107); letters concerning an Elizabethan table, 1931 (ff.183-7); photographs of bosses in the Post Room, 1934 (ff.192-8).
