Administrative / biographical background: |
The records of these three inter-related organisations were donated by Mr John Baverstock, who held office in all three. The Eastern Hospital League of Friends was formed in 1954 and the Hackney organisation in 1961. The Eastern branch ran a shop in the hospital which was also used by staff and patients of St Johns. When the Eastern Hospital closed and the new Homerton was built in its site, the organisations changed. The Hackney League of Friends became the Hackney and Homerton branch, the Eastern branch was wound up and a new branch was formed - the League of Friends of St Johns Hospital, with a new shop. |
